1 out of 3 blind people in the world are from India. Bihar is worst hit with a backlog of 700,000 blind and 4.3 million visually impaired people. 100,000 additional people become blind every year due to ageing. Cataract is responsible for more than 80% of the blindness. More than half of the population do not have access to cataract surgery. As per WHO, cataract surgery is one of the ten best interventions to reduce poverty because it not only restores vision but also the ability of the person to earn his livelihood. Your donation will make a difference.

1 OUT OF 3 BLIND PEOPLE in the world LIVE IN INDIA. There’s a total of 15 MILLION BLIND IN THE COUNTRY.

I Trishikh and my wife Anamika are personally moved by this and have embarked on a mission to do something about it.

Now you have a chance to do something about it too!

BIHAR is the worst hit with a BACKLOG OF 700,000 BLIND and 4.3 MILLION VISUALLY IMPAIRED people. It is also the poorest amongst the major states. Additionally, 100,000 PEOPLE BECOME BLIND EVERY YEAR due to ageing.

This dire situation has motivated us as a couple to start this fundraising campaign to gift sight to the poor. We need your help to do this.

And you have a chance to make an impact too!

AKHAND JYOTI, the LARGEST EYE HOSPITAL IN EASTERN INDIA and among the TOP 5 IN INDIA is DOING OVER 65,000 SIGHT-RESTORING SURGERIES ANNUALLY with 80% OF SURGERIES FREE OF COST for the underprivileged and indigent patients.

We believe that ‘little drops of water make a mighty ocean’. Hence would like to appeal to you to donate to the cause.

Now you can be a part of this change too!

If you are moved to provide sight to the underprivileged blind, here’s a great way to make an impact. Donate now and let’s light up lives together.

I would like to thank Dr. Mike Sabback from the 'Friends of Durgapur', Charleston, South Carolina, USA for contributing USD 500 to this campaign. He made the contribution to Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital through Bank transfer, hence the amount is not showing here. However I wish to acknowledge his contribution here.

There is no better way to thank God for your sight than by giving a helping hand to someone in the dark
