In rural Bihar, limited surgical capacity has left large numbers of people without access to timely eye care, contributing to high levels of avoidable blindness.

Akhand Jyoti's Centre of Excellence (CoE) is built to address this gap by expanding high-quality eye-care services at scale. Built as a 500-bed, high-throughput facility, the CoE integrates advanced clinical care, a women-led service delivery model, and strong outreach systems to reach underserved communities. Beyond service delivery, it functions as an integrated ecosystem where research, innovation, training, and clinical excellence are developed and applied—strengthening public health infrastructure while generating long-term social and economic returns.
