The Ballia Surgical Centre was established to bridge a critical geographic care gap between Ballia and Mastichak, reducing the long travel burden faced by patients seeking surgical eye care.
Outpatient services began on 25 May 2024, creating an accessible first point of care for patients from surrounding rural communities. To strengthen local surgical capacity, the operation theatre services were subsequently introduced, transforming the centre into a dedicated surgical hub for the region.
Since its inception, the centre has steadily expanded its infrastructure and patient capacity. Beginning with 30 beds, the hospital is currently in the process of obtaining approvals for additional beds, which will increase total capacity to 49 beds and strengthen its ability to serve a growing patient base.
Today, the centre continues to focus on improving inpatient capacity while maintaining high-quality ophthalmic care and reducing avoidable travel for underserved communities.
Every number represents a LIFE CHANGED, a FUTURE RESTORED.
