Nandini Kumari and her little sister grew up side by side in Raghopur, Midnapur, Muzaffarpur. At ten, Nandini’s world was made up of school, play and the familiar company of her sister. Her sister’s smile was one of her favourite parts of every day.

Then, an injury caused Nandini’s vision to become blurry. Something as simple as being with her sister began to feel different, putting a quiet distance between the two sisters and the everyday moments they had always shared.

The Evenings by the Window

Nandini was injured by a litchi and felt severe pain. Her parents, Dilip Chaudhary and Sima Devi, took her to a doctor that same day.

But after the injury, her vision became blurry. Before long, it began to affect the small things that filled her days.

The evenings that once brought the sisters together were no longer quite the same. Nandini could not play with her sister as she had before. Instead, she often stayed by the window, watching while the world around her carried on.

For a child used to being part of those moments, staying back was not easy.

A Child, A School, A Different Routine

Nandini was still a schoolgirl in Class 6. Her days had lessons, routines and all the ordinary things that made up childhood.

But blurred vision was beginning to get in the way.

It was not only that things looked less clear. It was becoming harder for Nandini to take part in the things happening around her. Her parents had acted quickly when she was injured. Now, they needed to find care that could help her see clearly again and return to her everyday life.

That brought Nandini to Akhand Jyoti.

Back to the Little Things

At Akhand Jyoti, Nandini received the treatment she needed.

Gradually, the things that had become difficult began to feel possible again. She could take part in her everyday activities and, once again, spend time with her sister.

Their little world began to feel familiar.

They could sit together and read. They could share a smile. The moments between them no longer had to be interrupted by the blur that had entered Nandini’s life after the injury.

For her parents, there was happiness in seeing their daughter return to these simple routines.

The Sister Beside Her Again

For Nandini, recovery was not simply about seeing more clearly. It meant being able to be part of the life around her again.

Her sister could be close beside her, just as she had been before. The things they did together could continue in their own simple way.

The change could be seen in moments that might otherwise seem too ordinary to notice sitting together with a book, being around each other at home, or simply having the freedom to join in.

These were the parts of childhood Nandini had missed.

“I Got My Sister Back”

Today, Nandini can take part in her day-to-day activities again. She remains a Class 6 student, growing up with her sister, her family and the familiar routines of childhood.

Her parents are happy and grateful to Akhand Jyoti for the care she received.

“I got my vision back. And with it, I got my sister back.”

For Nandini, those words hold what restored sight gave her back. Not only clearer vision, but the ordinary closeness she had always known with her sister. A book shared between two children. A smile across the room. An afternoon spent playing.

Sometimes, restoring sight means helping a child return to the little world that was always hers.
