When Ai-driven Eye Care Meets The Movement Of Millions | World Sight Day 2025
What if a one-minute eye check at a railway station could prevent lifelong blindness? On World Sight Day 2025, Akhand Jyoti proved that when technology meets intent, eye care doesn’t wait for people—it reaches them, wherever they are.

On World Sight Day 2025, Akhand Jyoti accelerated its AI-driven Healthy Eyes initiative—turning one day of global awareness into decisive action on the ground. What unfolded across Bihar was not a symbolic observance, but a large-scale deployment of technology-led preventive eye care designed to reach people before vision loss begins.
When Eye Care Meets the Movement of Millions
Railway stations are places of motion—of departures, arrivals, and everyday survival. Rarely are they places of healthcare.
Until World Sight Day changed that.

This year, Akhand Jyoti scaled its AI-driven ‘Healthy Eyes’ initiative in a pioneering partnership with the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, transforming some of Bihar’s busiest railway stations into centres of smart, preventive eye care.
For the first time in the state, AI-enabled eye screenings were conducted at Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Hajipur, Patliputra, and Danapur Junction—marking Bihar’s first large-scale, AI-led preventive eye care programme delivered in public spaces.
Within minutes, passengers moving through these stations received free, one-minute eye screenings, instant reports, and clear guidance on their eye health—often for the first time in their lives.
A First for Bihar. A Shift in How Care Reaches People.
This collaboration with Indian Railways represents more than an event—it signals a shift.
Healthcare no longer waits behind hospital walls. It moves with the people.
By bringing AI-driven screenings to high-footfall public spaces, Akhand Jyoti removed one of the biggest barriers to eye care: access. Thousands of commuters benefited from:
- Instant AI-generated eye health reports
- Early detection of vision-threatening conditions
- Faster referrals for timely treatment
This initiative stands as Bihar’s first large-scale deployment of AI-led preventive eye care, combining reach, speed, and diagnostic accuracy at an unprecedented scale.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Indian Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, and the Danapur DRM for their visionary support in making this milestone possible.
Beyond Stations: Taking AI to the Last Mile

While stations buzzed with movement, Akhand Jyoti’s mega eye screening camps were simultaneously conducted across remote villages of rural Bihar.
AI-enabled scanners travelled where healthcare often doesn’t. Detailed eye images were captured on-site and sent instantly for cloud-based analysis.
Within minutes, people received specialist-level assessments that once took weeks.
This is the power of AI-driven eye screening.
It accelerates early detection of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts, predicts future risks, and ensures people enter the care pathway before vision is lost.
No delay. No distance. No missed diagnosis.
Healthy Eyes: Faster. Smarter. More Inclusive.
Healthy Eyes is not just a screening campaign—it is a system designed for scale.
By combining AI precision with on-ground compassion, Akhand Jyoti is making eye care:
- Faster, through one-minute screenings
- Smarter, through sharper diagnostics
- More accessible, by reaching people where they already are
Each screening feeds into a larger mission—Vision 2030, with a commitment to 12 million eye screenings and a Bihar free from avoidable blindness.
As Akhand Jyoti advances its AI-driven Healthy Eyes initiative, the journey ahead calls for collective action. By supporting this mission—through partnership, funding, or advocacy—you help scale preventive eye care to millions more across Bihar.
Together, we can ensure no vision is lost simply because care arrived too late.
